We are experiencing a tremendous and rapid change in the meaning of arts and culture. While migration and globalisation are fundamentally transforming the concepts of a homogenous national culture, art and culture and being charged with new political meanings. Alongside the conservative concepts of national, ethnic, or religious identity, new stories are emerging – the counter-myths, which are based on the lives of people, their specific experiences, with respect for their individual truths. These perspectives and stories form the basis of contemporary performing arts, and In Transit is devoted to them.
