A poignant yet tragic tale of a deformed man rejected by society in Victorian England. Seen as a freak in a circus sideshow, the ‘Elephant Man’ is John Merrick, the grotesquely deformed man who was ‘rescued’ by Frederic Treves, an eminent physician, who tried to help Merrick, but only succeeded in making him another type of sideshow – this time for the pseudo-humanitarians, the bourgeois genteel generation.
Presented as part of the Singapore Drama Festival.
