The Screw of Thought is a choreographic lab that encourages conceptual thinking as a process in dance making in order to expand the boundaries of dance and to reflect on dance education in Singapore. The lab has brought together eight diverse participants from dance and other art forms to ‘unscrew’ their rules of dance over a stimulating five-day programme.
‘Pecha Kucha Tutti Frutti’ is the lab’s encounter for/with the public. The eight participants will each present a creative proposal in response to a simple rule of showing 20 images, each for 20 seconds. Joavien Ng and Jochen Roller will also speak on the lab’s creative processes, accompanied by video documentation compiled by film student Teow Yue Han.
The Screw of Thought marks TheatreWorks’ efforts in nourishing Singapore’s dance ecology for the future.
